In the midst of making these Vegan Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Sweet Potato Frosting, I was listening to a podcast and the topic of discussion was innocence. It sparked something in me, and I wanted to share with YOU!
In many ways, I believe we have removed ourselves from innocence because we’ve associated it with more negative aspects, like, “purity, inexperienced, or naive,” rather than looking at the world with fresh eyes as we did in our youth. Many times I have held onto these beliefs. Growing up I wanted to shed that innocence so I could fit in, feel connected to others, but in this came disconnection. I was holding a mirror not being able to recognize of myself.
So, what if we were to look at our worlds through this lens of innocence?
Now, I am not saying to throw on the rose-colored glasses and ignore the devastation and pain that is occurring in this realm, but rather to alter the way we interact with it on a daily basis. Reactivating and stepping into this energy we had as children when we used our imagination in playing with toys and peers. The way we admired and asked a barrage of questions about everything and anything. The state of awe.
I challenge you, and myself, to look at something, maybe it is a tree, cloud, the view while you are driving, or eating a tasty Carrot Cake Cupcake (wink wink), and look at it through the lens of innocence as if it was your first time experiencing and interacting with it… Even if it is just 30-seconds.
